Coventry’s Reggae festival kicked off on the 20/7/24 with an amazing colourful parade from Spon Street. It involved over 300 people across all ages wearing fantastic colourful costumes, dancing to vibrant and uplifting Reggae Music. The parade made its way along the route with the support of crowds who joined in with the Reggae vibe, dancing and waving flags.
To add to the carnival theme there were Steel Pan bands, DJ’s and a Gospel Choir playing in the Upper and Lower Precinct and also Broadgate provided by Coventry BID. Turtle Bay also joined in by providing deck chairs and Chicken Wings for the gathered crowds. There was a Face Painter in West Orchards so that children could join in with the festival fun.
The parade which lasted for over 2 hours made its way to the War Memorial Park to continue with the festivities.
Turtle Bay also provided 150 meals for people who were working at the festival, which were greatly received.
The feedback was that it made for a really great atmosphere in the City Centre and people were getting into the Reggae Rhythm. People also commentated that the bunting in the upper precinct also added to the ambience.
