Safety & Security in Coventry City Centre
At Coventry BID, keeping the city centre safe and welcoming is one of our biggest priorities. Whether you’re working late, enjoying a night out, visiting the city or running a business, we want everyone to feel supported and safe while they’re here.
That’s why we work closely with local businesses, West Midlands Police, Coventry City Council and other partners to provide visible support across the city centre — especially during busy evenings and weekends.
Two of the key services we provide are our Night Patrol and Taxi Marshall teams, both of which play an important role in supporting Coventry’s night-time economy.
Night Patrol
You may have seen our Night Patrol team out and about in the city centre during the evenings. They provide a reassuring presence for businesses, staff, residents and visitors, helping to keep Coventry safe and welcoming after dark.
The team works closely with venues, retailers and emergency services to respond quickly to issues and provide support where it’s needed most.
They help with:
- Supporting businesses and staff during busy evenings
- Responding to anti-social behaviour and incidents
- Assisting vulnerable individuals
- Reporting issues and sharing intelligence with partners
- Providing a visible presence across the city centre
The Night Patrol team is there to offer reassurance, support and quick action when needed, helping businesses and visitors feel safer while enjoying everything Coventry has to offer.
Supporting Coventry’s Night-Time Economy
Coventry’s bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and late-night businesses are a huge part of what makes the city vibrant and welcoming.
Our Night Patrol helps support the people behind these businesses, as well as the thousands of visitors who enjoy the city centre every week. By working together with local partners, we help create a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone.
Taxi Marshalls
Our Taxi Marshalls are another important part of keeping the city centre running smoothly on busy nights.
Based at key taxi ranks during peak times, they help people get home safely and ensure queues remain calm, organised and well managed.
They’re there to:
- Help manage taxi queues safely and fairly
- Support visitors and vulnerable individuals
- Reduce conflict and disorder at busy taxi ranks
- Assist licensed taxi drivers
- Provide reassurance at the end of the night
For many people, Taxi Marshalls are the final friendly face they see before heading home — helping end the evening safely and positively.
Working Together to Keep Coventry Safe
Safety is something we all play a part in, and we’re proud to work alongside local partners and businesses to support the city centre.
Through services like Night Patrol and Taxi Marshalls, Coventry BID continues to invest in creating a safer, more welcoming environment for businesses, workers, residents and visitors alike.
