Coventry BID proudly supported the Cov Cares Awards, an event dedicated to recognising outstanding venues, businesses, and organisations that go the extra mile to create truly special customer experiences. The inaugural Cov Cares Awards night took place on Wednesday, June 21st, at Coventry University’s Square One building at The Hub, drawing in a remarkable attendance of over 100 guests.

With an overwhelming 756 entries and 167 nominations, the judges faced the challenging task of selecting the most exceptional examples of great customer service. After careful consideration, they shortlisted three nominees for each of the ten categories, all of whom were invited to a pre-finalist event hosted by McDonald’s a week prior to the finalist night.

Coventry BID collaborated with local charity Grapevine, Visit Coventry, Coventry Building Society, McDonald’s, and PET-Xi Training to organize the awards night. The categories included ‘More Than Just a Bar or Nightclub,’ ‘More Than Just a Cafe or Restaurant,’ ‘More Than Just a Shop,’ and ‘Community Champion.’

Lyndsay Smith, Deputy Manager at Coventry BID, expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “We are thrilled to have worked on a project that celebrates the intangible but differentiating elements of what makes great customer service. It was a special moment in time to recognize those who make such an effort to positively influence visitors’ experiences.”

Coventry BID was delighted to have several city centre venues shortlisted, including St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry Boys and Girls Club, LTB, The Yard, and Voluntary Action Coventry. Although there were no winners on the night, the enthusiasm remains high for the coming year.

The Cov Cares Awards served as a platform to honour those who consistently strive to make a difference in customer service, showcasing the significance of their contributions in enhancing visitor experiences in Coventry.
